Meet Our Team
At Posey & Son Nursery, our family and team are the heart of everything we do. From the fields to the office to the delivery routes, each of us plays a role in making sure our customers receive the highest quality plants and the best possible service.
We are pleased to introduce you to the friendly faces of our family you’ll meet if you come visit us—and we hope you’ll feel like part of our nursery family, too.

Owner & Operator
Raymond Posey
There wouldn’t be Posey & Son Nursery without Raymond Posey. With a background in farming, he taught himself everything about boxwoods and nursery operations on his family land. In 1986, with the help of his son Jeff, he founded the nursery, building it from the ground up through hard work and determination.
Now 87, Raymond remains a constant presence in the fields, mentoring his family, overseeing the land he and his family have cultivated for nearly a century, and has also been fortunate enough to see his son, grandson, and now great-grandson take pride in the business he started so many years ago. His legacy lives on in every plant and in the family values at the heart of the nursery.

Owner & Operator
Jeff Posey
Jeff left his job in Huntsville in the early 1990s to help build the family nursery, growing it into a trusted name in the wholesale boxwood industry. A natural innovator, Jeff designs many of the equipment blueprints. He also discovered a boxwood mutation on the nursery grounds and secured its official patent in 2025. This new variety, the Stately Manor boxwood, is now being shared with nurseries across the country.
Beyond the fields, he and his wife, Janet, often deliver plants across surrounding states, working closely with landscaping companies and supplying boxwoods for their clients.

Nursery Manager
Grant Johnson
Grandson of Raymond and nephew of Jeff, Grant has been part of the nursery since he could walk, spending his childhood in the fields and working summers alongside his family. Now Nursery Manager, he oversees the day-to-day operations, coordinating field crews, and ensuring that every order is fulfilled efficiently. Grant has also learned welding and equipment fabrication, building custom tools alongside Martin to improve workflow and maintain machinery in the in-house workshop.
Today, he shares the same love and wonder he experienced as a child with his own son, Hayes, who often says he wants to work with his daddy when he grows up.

Field Supervisor & H-2A Program Interpreter
Anselmo "Martin" Sanchez
Martin has been with Posey & Son Nursery since high school, starting as a field hand and now serving as both Field Supervisor and H-2A Program Interpreter. He works seamlessly alongside Grant, managing field crews, delegating tasks, and ensuring that all orders are completed on time.
Both he and Grant have learned welding and fabrication, building equipment from Jeff’s designs and maintaining tools in the in-house workshop, reducing outside costs and improving efficiency. Martin has become a valued part of the Posey family, contributing to the nursery’s success with an unwavering sense of hard work, expertise, leadership, and dedication.

Field Hand: H2-A Program
Gustavo Torres
Gustavo is the uncle in this hardworking Field Hand duo, and he leads by example—teaching not just the skills of the job, but the importance of patience, dedication, and pride in a job well done. For ten months out of the year, Gustavo lives on-site at our nursery through the H2-A program, where he takes care of the daily maintenance that keeps our fields clean and thriving.
When the season ends, he looks forward to going home for two months with his nephew to be with his family in Mexico before returning to continue the cycle of work and care here. His strong sense of responsibility and family values make him an anchor in both his own family and our nursery family.

Field Hand: H2-A program
Jesus Perez
Jesús followed in the footsteps of his uncle Gustavo, and became a member of our team here. As nephew and uncle working side by side, Jesús and Gustavo show how family and hard work go hand in hand. For ten months of the year, Jesús lives on-site through the H2-A program, tackling the daily labor that keeps the nursery running—from tending the fields to pitching in wherever help is needed.
Each year, he returns home for two months with his uncle to reconnect with family before joining us again. With his willingness to learn and his dedication to the job, Jesús has become a valuable part of our nursery’ family.

Secretary
Janet Posey
If you’ve ever called Posey & Son Nursery to place an order, make a payment, or ask about our stock, you’ve probably already met Janet. Since marrying Jeff in 1994, she’s been the heart of the office, keeping everything organized behind the scenes and making sure the rest of this team of boys stays in line.

Raising her children on the nursery, Janet has always blended family life with farm life, creating a home where hard work and family values go hand in hand. Alongside Jeff, she’ll often climb into the semi-truck to help deliver plants to customers across surrounding states, showing that her dedication extends far beyond the office.
